About Us

Oncologist and author TONYDEAF.org aka Dr. Kevin Ryan Colonel U.S.A.F. is a fallen apple from two trees—and he stayed pretty close to both. His career spans art, medicine, military, civics, and academics. He "paid the bills" growing up in performing arts doing any job that would not send him to the pokey, was a U.S.A.F. Colonel, and has always held an academic professor position. His creative career has been a long-time gig in music and other artistic endeavors, including:

His Medical Career

Much as he loved the arts, Dr. Ryan always had a heart and head for medicine, research, and teaching. This drove him to become a Board Certified Oncologist, hematologist, and internist. Along the way, he picked up some Masters in business, leadership, medical management, and other polysyllabic parchment things mothers love to tell about to other mothers or to anyone who cannot run away.

A few years ago, the McNaughton Newspapers asked him to write an opinion column. Since then, he has penned about a couple hundred pieces on topics like:

He has recently completed his swan song to clinical medicine—a book about cancer entitled "When Tumor is the Rumor and Cancer is the Answer.” The work was hard and humbling, but well worth it.

Other Fun Facts

Dr. Ryan is delightfully married to Madame P. Empress of The Universe and Goddess Of All That Is Holy—she makes him say that—who is also a nurse, certified vet tech and dental type, and former Director of Healthcare Occupations Education for Solano County. His aspiration is to one day grow up to be the man his dogs thought he was because presently he is owned by his wife's two cats. All of his creative stuff is pro bono and on this website. He uses the name, Tony Deaf as a testimonial to his musical aptitude, Tone Deaf.
